I create as an emotional response to the world around me. My gestural figures feature an imaginative narrative that fluctuate between elegant and uncomfortable, with a deep connection to water, light, and nature. I approach my work with an emphasis on experimentation and intuition, allowing the spontaneous nature of the medium, most notably the monotype, to guide me.

Nanette spent her childhood playing in the fields and forests of her home in Oregon. Her vivid imagination, desire to create and nod to nostalgia stem from these early experiences. She fell in love with printmaking and figure drawing while completing her BFA at Oregon State University. She then continued her career path working as a graphic artist and letterpress printer. Some years ago she acquired a small etching press which provided her the accessibility to print monotypes once again. She now works primarily as a painter and monotype printmaker.
She has been featured in numerous solo, invitational and juried exhibitions as well as international print publications. For more information about her work, to inquire about commissions contact nanette@nanettwallace.com
