INSPIRED BY PLACE
Open-Air Monotype Workshop with Nanette Wallace & Lisa Ellis
May 18-19, 2024, Plas Newydd Farm, Ridgefield, Washington
Sign up here! (a few spots still open!)
In this workshop we will create monotypes outdoors, inspired by our surroundings at the beautiful Plas Newydd farm. This large family farm has a diverse landscape, located alongside the Lewis River, with rolling fields, mature forests, old barns, wild flowers and plenty of watery goodness to draw inspiration from, and a lovely farmhouse for us to take refuge in. Inspiration can take many forms when working in and around nature, and any direction that inspires you will be supported in this workshop, representational or non-representation. We will create one of a kind prints on paper, monotypes, with an emphasis on light, value, impulse, experimentation and joy!
Location:
This workshop will take place on a gorgeous private family-owned farm located 40 minutes north of Portland Oregon, in Ridgefiled Washington, alongside the Lewis River. (More About the farm here)
About the Instructors:
Nanette Wallace’s & Lisa Ellis will be teaching the workshop as a creative team. Nanette and Lisa met at art school in the early 90s and have been good friends in art and life ever since. As instructors they provide a balance of knowledge and support that is both insightful and encouraging.

Letting Go. | RiverSea Gallery, Astoria, OR
Letting go is an ongoing theme in my work. It’s part of my mantra. This solo show includes monotypes and paintings that reflect my past and present artistic journeys as I navigate through my experiences and emotions.
Letting go of fears, of inhibitions, of failures, of tension, of pain, of what’s weighing me down, of what hasn’t yet happened, of perceptions I believe about myself and others, of conversations I wish I had not had, of memories that are poisoning me, of the notion that all of my work needs to fit into a singular straight forward theme, of what I thought our future would look like...
and Letting In the sounds of the river that bring me solace, time for deep and honest rest, experiences that are unfamiliar, as well as joy, curiosity, compassion, anger, sadness, failure, and frustration... all with acceptance as part of this journey.
Show was in June/July 2020
RiverSea Gallery, 1160 Commercial Street, Astoria, OR
